Small Kitchen Decorating Ideas

Bigger is not always better, especially when we’re talking kitchens. Small kitchens are usually more efficient workspaces than large ones. Space and good design aren’t exclusive to a large kitchen — all you need are some good small kitchen decorating ideas that keep your small space organized, functional and beautiful.

“If you can organize your kitchen, you can organize your life.” — Louis Parrish

We’ve put together some small-kitchen decorating ideas that tackle the following issues with good design solutions. The three most common small-kitchen complaints are clutter, lack of counter space and a dark kitchen.

Clutter is usually a side effect of not having enough storage. Often, more storage isn’t the solution — simplifying and decluttering your kitchen is. Go through your cabinets and drawers (especially the back) and donate or toss anything that you haven’t used for a while. Ask yourself if you really need a cherry-pitting tool or an egg slicer. Once you’ve cleared the cabinets, clear the counters by storing the items that cause visual clutter.

You’ve reclaimed some counter space, but do you still feel like it’s not enough? That’s a common issue. We have ideas for maximizing (and even adding) more counter space to your small kitchen, including a trick for turning your sink into a cutting board.

Farm House Charm Kitchen Shelving

Kitchen shelving

Combine function with decorative flair. The open shelving in this cottage-style kitchen provides a roomy expanse of storage, but it’s also an opportunity to enhance the decor. Vintage pewter, china and other dishware mingle with practical supplies such as plates and glasses. The openness of the shelves also helps to preserve the serene, airy feel of the space and lends an old-fashioned note, evoking an era when most kitchens featured utilitarian shelves rather than banks of cabinetry.

Story below..

Native San Antonian and home improvement industry executive, David Palomo has taken a giant step into the future with a major expansion of both, OMG Kitchen and Bath and Alamo City Handymen, opening newly expanded offices and showroom located at 428 W. Nakoma, San Antonio, Texas, 78216.

David Palomo launched Alamo City Handymen in 2007 and as a way of continuing to improve on his Home Improvement business model and started parent company OMG Kitchen & Bath Remodeling in 2013. Both Companies have been A rated with Angie’s List & BBB from day one and while the industry can have its challenges in keeping qualified staff, Palomo has focused on both, skill level and personality, when adding to his growing staff.

“It’s important for our customers to have a positive experience, not only when everything goes right, but even when something goes wrong. So personality is important and one of the things I often hear from our customers is that everyone from start to finish was so nice. That is music to my ears because I know they will not only call us back, but brag about us to their friends and family.” (Recent customers are available for interviews if requested)

David Palomo is capitalizing on this growth with new offices and a showroom. It’s a long way from his start in 2007 when it was just him and a helper working out of his house.

“My vision from the very beginning was to grow into a business that was not only there to serve its customers, but also to provide for our staff, as well. We do our best to take care of our staff and I know that’s simple to say, but unfortunately it’s very rare in our industry.”

The new move and growth have provided, not only benefits for their staff, but the added opportunity to strengthen their partnerships with vendors and showcase more products & services to their customers. They now, are a distributor of “Interceramic” Tile, carry the “Mid Continent” Cabinet line for kitchens & bathrooms, are a re-seller of the “Metroquartz” line of counter tops, sell & showcase Kohler & Moen plumbing Products and are working on a new bathroom showroom complete with tub, vanity and shower displays.

“This is my hometown, I love it here and I am proud to be a part of this city’s growth. San Antonio defines who I am and I don’t ever expect to outgrow this city,” says a passionate, David Palomo.
